Understanding whiplash
Whiplash is most commonly caused by rear-end collisions — the sudden force snaps the head forward and back faster than the neck muscles can brace for. Symptoms often appear 24–72 hours after impact, which is why many people feel fine at the scene. Florida law gives you 14 days to get evaluated and protect your PIP benefits (Fla. Stat. § 627.736) — don't wait for symptoms to peak before calling.
Left untreated, whiplash can involve the cervical spine and in more severe cases contribute to a herniated disc. Early evaluation is one factor that can influence whether whiplash resolves in weeks or lingers longer — not a guarantee either way, since severity and individual healing vary.

What Whiplash Feels Like
Muscle and ligament strain without nerve involvement — the majority of cases, responsive to conservative care.
Involves neurological symptoms like numbness or weakness — needs a full evaluation
Fracture or dislocation — rare but critical; requires immediate emergency imaging before any chiropractic care.
Headaches originating from the cervical spine after impact — very common in the days following a collision.
Chronic stiffness and restricted motion that develops when whiplash goes untreated in the initial weeks.

How we treat

1 hr | Contact us 954-282-1801
We use the Graston tool to break up scar tissue and muscle spasm in the neck and upper back that build up after a collision. This can feel similar to a deep massage and helps restore the soft tissue's normal movement.

After whiplash, selected neck joints may have restricted motion. If appropriate after evaluation, a controlled adjustment may be included to address that restriction.

When exam findings suggest a cervical disc concern, controlled traction may be considered to reduce pressure. It is used only when the evaluation supports it.

Turning your head to check mirrors or drive is often the hardest part of whiplash recovery. We come to you in the early days when driving isn't realistic yet — full exam and treatment, wherever you're most comfortable.

Was this from an accident?
Whiplash symptoms can build after the collision. Florida PIP generally requires initial services and care within 14 days of a motor vehicle accident (Fla. Stat. § 627.736); coverage depends on eligibility and policy terms.
